SUSTAINABILITY

We believe sustainability can only be achieved in its true sense by maintaining the highest standard of quality for every detail of the product that is being produced. One key ingredient which is usually not mentioned or written on a shirt’s label is water. Cotton is a very thirsty crop; it can take up to 2,700 litres of water to produce the cotton required to make a single t-shirt. The amount of fresh water available in this world is less the 1% as 97% is salty and 2% is frozen in ice and snow. So to meet the needs of people and nature, we have to get smarter about how we use water because the demand for water is increasing day by day.

The Cotton London takes sustainability very seriously that is why we ensure our clothes are long lasting with minimalist design as fashion changes all the time. Our vision and goal for manufacturing world's finest cotton clothing is to achieve the following:

  • Producing long lasting products
  • Producing durable and timeless garments
  • Sourcing natural fibre
  • Reducing negative environmental impact
  • Reducing negative social impact
  • Supporting ‘Made in Great Britain’ initiative
  • Supporting ‘Made in Europe’ Initiative

This is our selection criteria for producing the World’s Finest Quality Cotton Clothing.

The Cotton® Source

Our verification process starts from the beginning of the actual source of the Cotton plant:

  • How it is cultivated?
  • How it is picked?
  • How it is distributed?
  • Do the cotton bales have an authenticity seal?

Considering all these questions and factors we only source extra-long staple cotton such as Cotton USA, Supima, Egyptian Giza 45 and West Indian Sea Island Cotton which guarantees all sustainability requirements are fulfilled. This enables us to produce shirts produced by durable yarns and elegant fabrics.

Monitoring how cotton source is spun to produce yarn:

  • How Cotton source is verified?
  • Does the factory satisfy Textile Industry Standards?
  • Is the factory one of our approved Cotton Sources?

All our current yarn manufacturers satisfy our requirements and much more. All our yarn manufacturers are based in Italy, Switzerland or Turkey producing the world’s finest and most luxurious yarn.
